Singer, Songwriter and Entertainer Christine Lavin sparkles onstage both literally and figuratively. With boundless insight into popular culture and love of all things sequined, Christine takes the house by storm. Her smart, funny original songs and giddy stories have made her one of contemporary-pop’s most influential and beloved performers.
Lavin profiles American life and foible with laser-like wit, shrewd insight and a huge dollop of silliness. A typical Lavin concert is a songbag of brilliant socially observant comedic material
Lavin’s music and her spontaneity are unequivocal departures from today’s over the top choreographed numbers and amped-up lyrics. Unabashedly fond of a good laugh, she is fearless opening up her shows up to audiences so that every concert is a one-off. Cooking recipes and goodie bags personally assembled are routinely passed out because she sees a connection to one of her songs or an anecdote she’s just remembered. She regularly invites audience members onstage to join her for a musical number and then improvises brilliant song ripostes as follow up.
Lavin received a 2012 NYC Nightlife Award given annually to the best concert and cabaret performers. In November 2011 her book COLD PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST: A MEM-WHA?? won the 43rd Annual ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for excellence in non-fiction writing about pop music. Other awards include: five ASCAP composer awards, the Backstage Bistro Award for Best NYC Singer/Songwriter Of The Year, The Kate Wolf Memorial Award, and her album Good Thing He Can't Read My Mind won Album Of The Year from the National Association Of Independent Record Distributors.
