Since 2016, Dweezil found himself in the midst of a conflict which resulted in a name change for Dweezil’s touring project. Dweezil stopped using the name Zappa Plays Zappa and now continues to make music and tour under his own name. The current band lineup is Dweezil’s favorite so far. “This is the best version of the band I have ever had. The musicians are able to tackle the hardest instrumental passages and cover a limitless range of vocals.” Dweezil’s most current album release (2018) is “Live In The Moment II,” a guitar solo complialtion record in the style of his father’s “Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar” discs. Live solos interspersed with studio tracks and interstitial pallette cleansers.

He is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Guitar Player calls him “the poet laureate of Louisiana’s fertile roots music scene.” A native of the Woodlands, Texas, Hayes Carll’s style of roots-oriented songwriting has been noted for its plainspoken poetry and sarcastic humor. Sommelier Joseph Shaughnessy and the Jacksonville Inn are teaming up with Joe Ginet of Plaisance Ranch for this month’s wine tasting. This month’s tasting is particularly exciting as Joe will be bringing six different wines from six different grape varietals for guests to blend in the proportions they see fit! The six different varietals are, in fact, the six main varietals of Bordeaux (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Carmenere, Petit Verdot). Sommelier Joseph Shaughnessy will give a brief history on this famed region and how it has shaped wine making while guests are concocting their own signature blend! Blending trials are an exciting time for any winemaker and guests at this event will get to see why. As icing on the cake each wine of the guest’s signature blend will be blind tasted and judged by Joe and Joseph with the winning wine receiving a bottle of 2016 “Ranch Red” courtesy of Plaisance! The event starts at 6:30 pm on Tuesday the 24th March at the Jacksonville Inn. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Jacksonville Inn and are $30 per person. Stella and her quintet present the music of Billie Holiday. Shrouded in mystery as she was draped in fur, Billie was multi-faceted; she possessed a sensitivity and ability to make the songs she sang as personal as if she was singing them softly in your very own ear. Featuring some of the Bay Area’s finest Jazz musicians, Stella’s quintet brings back the electric and intimate feeling of seeing Lady Day live in a 1930’s Jazz Club.
There are few artists whose names are synonymous with one instrument and how it’s played in service to an entire genre. Utter the phrase “young blues rock guitarist” within earshot of anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the modern musical vanguard and the first name they are most likely to respond with will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The Louisiana born axeman and songsmith has sold millions of albums while throwing singles into the Top 10, shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound he has embodied since his teens.
